ARCHITECT

Amma Asamoah is an Assistant Professor of Architecture at Tuskegee University. Specializing in sustainable development and cultural provide, Ms. Asamoah has over a decade of experience working in residential architecture and community development. The Philadelphia native who claims Ghana as her "fatherland", gathers inspiration from her travels abroad to Africa, the Caribbean, and Europe. Her work is highly reflective of her heritage and love of her community.

Professor Asamoah is a proud alumna of Tuskegee Universities Robert R. Taylor School of Architecture and Construction Science and Philadelphia Universities M.S. Sustainable Design Program. Amma has designed for clients nationally and internationally. She is pursuing a Doctorate of Design at Carnegie Mellon University as a Fellow with the National GEM Consortium in the fall of 2023. Her current research and design studio focuses on creating architectural languages that join African communities with the African diaspora and creating sustainable climate resilient communities in the built environment. She is a proud  mother of four amazing small humans and enjoys visual arts and textile design in her spare time.
